Most of the time when people renovate a home they expect to reside in it more permanently. But, designer Jackie Glass transformed her 450-square-foot (42-square-meter) trailer into a temporary oasis in lieu ofrenting while renovating her real home on the same property.
The designer bought the trailer new, but noted it looked far from modern. “Interestingly it was a little bit dated despite being new. The finishes were difficult colors to work with – and I am a decorator! So, any temporary space needs to have some resemblance of prettiness,” Glass explains in the House & Home video.
Now, the trailer looks anything but dated or cookie cutter. Glass has transformed the space from dark and dingy to white, clean open and totally contemporary. She’s used whites and clean lines to make the small space shine – and each and every detail she’s added makes this property feel luxe.
If you’re working with a small space or renovating a trailer of your own, you can take some great tips from this crafty designer. Check out the gallery below to see how she’s made this trailer a home – and don’t forget to check out the video either.
Wide open, clean, and contemporary – Jackie Glass has used whites, blacks, and organic tones to keep this space feeling neutral and bright.
We love how despite its small space, this room feels open, yet each part has their designated space. Having plenty of natural light helps, as does keeping all the furniture in neutral tones.
The kitchen has been transformed with a coat of paint and some new backsplash tiles. The designer decided to ditch the natural wood for this Onyx color by Benjamin Moore, which really compliments the stainless steel appliances and finishes.
She’s then added in this white stone backsplash that keeps your eye flowing throughout the space – while still adding a bit of flare.
The master suite is one of the biggest transformations in the home. This back bedroom was dark and depressing – but she’s opened it up by slapping on new paint, and by using beautiful whites and linens to make this bed look like something out of a 5-star hotel.
The bathroom was also renovated with white paint and dark accents that add a modern touch. By simply adding a ladder for towels, some prints, and a new mirror with built in shelves this space automatically feels contemporary and anything but cramped.
