The Trout River Tiny Cabin Was Once A School House

The Trout River is a mid-19th-century log tiny house design that originally served as a school in Decorah, Iowa. The tiny house building was built sometime around the mid 19th century as a Norwegian-Lutheran parochial school. In 1898, the tiny cabin designs were taken apart, moved all the way across a field, and then rebuilt to be used as Norwegian immigrant Peter Losen’s tiny home design. The tiny cabin is beautiful inside and out, and a rustic style of log cabin design that you can draw plenty of inspiration. The warm look and feel of the wood make for a cozy log cabin build that has stood the test of time.
