Here’s a beautiful natural home in Holstein Switzerland that is inspiring for anyone who loves log cabins and log cabin building. This log cabin is pretty small at only 430 square feet, but it has a lot to offer. Even though log cabins originated in Europe in places like Scandinavia, this log cabin features a Canadian style of construction and uses sustainable building materials. It’s always nice to know that log builders are using sustainable materials in the construction of their homes and you feel better staying or living in homes of this nature. For this log home, all of the logs are obtained from sustainable tree plantations, and the insulation that goes between the logs is made of pure sheep’s wool. The log home is built using full round logs which give it that rustic, classic look that all real cabins have. It also features a green metal roof that is angled perfectly so that the snow falls off of it and doesn’t get too heavy on the roof. The door of the cabin is also very unique, made out of raw wood and a stick going across it for the handle providing the perfect entrance into this cozy log cabin. Once inside, you’ll see that the log cabin is just as lovely on the interior as it is on the exterior. The exposed log walls are beautiful showing off all of the character of each log used for the home. Standing in the centre of the home is a large log that connects the upper level to the lower level and serves as part of the staircase as well.
The living room has a super comfortable looking sofa and a stylish leather chair and footstool, perfect for lounging next to the crackling fire. The wood burning fireplace is right next to the door and is suitable for providing more than enough heat for the entire small cabin. Just past the large log and staircase is a dining table to eat meals at and a small kitchen to cook in. The kitchen has a few cabinets, one long countertop, a farmhouse style sink and the cutest SMEG fridge. There’s also a stovetop to cook food on in the kitchen, but also a BBQ to use outside as well. The bedroom is close by with a large comfortable bed and just enough space to move around in the room. Up in the loft is a sofa and a cute desk that could be great for those who need to do a bit of work, or maybe someone writing a book or to write in your journal. From up in the loft you get a great view of the living area below as well as a view of the scenic landscape surrounding the log cabin.
The bathroom in the log cabin is also another beautiful and stylish feature of the cabin. There is some beautiful natural tile work that pulls colours from the natural landscape, and a nice large glassed in shower with smaller colourful tiles in it that resemble a sunset or autumn leaves. There’s also an indoor toilet, so no outhouses while staying at this cabin, and there’s a nice sink propped up on a square finished log for a unique and stylish look. The sink is even made out of stone providing a very natural experience. The holiday home is located in Sieversdorf which is just four kilometres north of Malente in Switzerland, and the log cabin is on 1,000 square meters of quiet, peaceful land surrounded by lakes. The land is also close to the Baltic Sea, and there is so much to do and many places to explore during your stay, either by foot, on bike or by car.
